[Offtopic][Ann] Self 4.5.0 ("Mallard") released

Russell Allen
Hi all,

Forgive the offtopic email.

We've just released a new build of Self (4.5.0, dubbed "Mallard").

There is a short description of what is new and download links for OS X and Linux at:
http://blog.selflanguage.org/2014/01/12/self-mallard-4-5-0-released/

In summary, we have a new modern build system, improved look at feel (though there is still a way to go) and a new Self Control.app for making the OS X experience nicer.

For those who don't know, Self is a prototype based object oriented programming language and environment in the Smalltalk family. It runs on OS X and Linux (and Solaris if you are prepared to do a little work) and has a GUI development environment and fast JIT virtual machine.

Cheers,
Russell

I'd say it actually is off-topic, but we do appreciate some off-topic stuff that is related and of general interest to Squeak developers.

So, thanks for the announcement, and please keep posting, Russel :)
