OK, so I found the reference to parameters in the Floss manual, but I don't understand it. Can someone help out? Thanks! Parameters are a nice way of defining a variable local to the script. Adding a parameter to a script makes the script a little different in the sense that it doesn't tick anymore but it has to be manually called from another script (providing a value for the parameter). It's a very useful mechanism and a good example could be the #polygon: script in the "Turtle Geometry" project.

Thanks, Ricardo, that is helpful. But in Yoshikis’ Turtle Geometry project, how does the “number” become assigned in the first place? Where does the parameter get a value? It gets called from the #makePolygons script with the default value 5 but you can change it and make different polygons easily. On Mon, Mar 28, 2011 at 9:38 AM, Christine Murakami <[hidden email]> wrote:

Hi:
Etoys w/ parameters in video from 0. This examples uses the #makePolygons script . May be is obvius, but the default value 5 can be changed just clicking over and put there a new value. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2295543977721590846# Patricio Sugar Labs Chile From: [hidden email] Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2011 09:46:00 -0300 To: [hidden email] CC: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [squeakland] Parameters in etoys It gets called from the #makePolygons script with the default value 5 but you can change it and make different polygons easily.
