Proposing candidates for the election

If I understand it right there are 7 seats in the council and for now
only 8 candidates.

Is it possible to propose candidate for the election? If possible I
would like to propose these two ones (I don't know if there are
interested but I guess they can just tell there in the mailing list if
they are or not interested):

* Diego Gomez Deck
* Yoshiki Ohshima

I am proposing these two candidates because they did important
improvment to Squeak regarding internationalization.

Sure you can propose.

Now the key question after all is if people have the time/ the will
to do something. These kind of people are more than welcomed.

It is. Proposals can be made to this mailing list, but preferably at
http://people.squeakfoundation.org/article/53.html. A proposal needs
some indication from the person being proposed that they're willing to
stand.

I want to see more candidates. I want this election to get to the point
that it's very obvious I won't be elected because there are lots of
candidates who are better qualified for the job than me.

Yoshiki can post himself but I just wanted to mention that we contacted
Yoshiki back in september checking if he was interested in joining the
Coordinators (as we were called at the time). The short answer is that
he had his plate very full but appreciated being contacted. :)

There were several reasons for trying to get Yoshiki on board, one was
to try to get the asian Squeak community more "in contact" with
squeak-dev.

A meta remark:

the goals of the squeakfoundation board is not to do per se things in
squeak but to act
as an enabler so that other people have a better life to do things in
Squeak.

So ideas and actions how to promote squeak
- make sure that people are willing to do things in Squeak
- improve communication between groups,
- structure the community,
- enabling actions and changes.
- book writing support
- CD editions
- merchandising

Hello,

After some discussion with members of a few communities and groups,
here I would like to announce that I stand for the board member.

Yes, I had things on my plate... But how much they are depends on
the point of view. So, if I can help in some way, it is going to be
good thing for all of us.

Like that we avoid to only have european.
I hope that you will have lot of ideas and wishes so that we can
collect funds and spend them to enable the community.

He does agree ;-)

I am much more confident in my hacking skills rather than in dealing
with community affairs, but if you guys are willing to give me a
chance I'll try to do my very best in the spare time my job and
family leaves to me.
