Ralph Johnson video lectures on Smalltalk

Michael Davies-2
I've just found a link to a set of videos and lecture notes from Ralph
Johnson's lectures on Smalltalk (based on VisualWorks I believe):
http://st-www.cs.uiuc.edu/users/johnson/cs497/notes98/online-course.html
The lecture notes are accessible, but the video links seem to be dead.
Does anyone know if they are still accessible anywhere?

I'm pretty sure Ralph teaches in Squeak, not Visual Works.  I recall
watching his video lectures last year as well, all were in Squeak.

I can confirm that he does use Squeak now.  However to access course
materials you have to enrol through UIUC ...ie those materials are not
available to anyone on a budget.

Is it a matter of time before a UIUC student (with access to the videos)
leaks them and they end up on youtube?  A more controlled event would be for
Ralph to publish them with the university's permission.  It would be a great
advertisement for UIUC's killer CS school.

Kyle Hamilton
someone should approach them about doing something like MIT's
opencourseware initiative.

The videos are copyrighted by the university so ralph cannot give
them for free.
Now he was teaching in VW and switched to Squeak recently

Ah, that's a shame, as the slides are very interesting reading, and
I'm sure that the videos would have a wealth of incidental detail.

Cheers,
Michael

Yes, but most of those vids look available at:
http://st-www.cs.uiuc.edu/users/johnson/cs497/video/

Michael, you should wget it for your personal use before it goes to the void.

Thanks for the tip, Martial; they're safely backed-up now.

Cheers,
Michael

Is it possible to have such valuable materails availabel to all students? Just like the MIT open courseware.
I found there are a lot of videos, slides, and online books in that projects.
