I’ve downloaded the Squeak-file from Squeak All-In-One several times, but all files fails to run due to damaged file.
I’m running Mac OS X 10.9.4. Have anyone else experienced such problem and solved it? _______________________________________________ Beginners mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/beginners |

Are you getting an error message when you down load the zip file or when you try to launch Squeak? I am not at my Mac now, but I have successfully installed the All-in-one on an older IMac 17 running Snow Leopard. And I just verified that it is working on a PC. Hello jrm,
I’m able to unzip the file and get the .app-file. Trying to run that results in a message from Mac OS X saying the file is damaged. Following the suggestion of Levente I propose this text for the website.
================= Beginner Download the Squeak All-In-One.Unzip and double click. Works on any operating system. (1)Problem on OSX when attempting to launch Squeak All-in-One. (1) Beginning with OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) there is a new security feature called Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper is enabled by default and prevents applications distributed outside of the Mac App Store from launching. Launching such application results in the error: "<Application> is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." The workaround • Open Gatekeeper settings located in "System Preferences > Security & Privacy" • On the "General" panel set "Allow applications downloaded from:" to "Anywhere" and confirm by pressing "Allow From Anywhere" • Download, unpack and run the Squeak All-in-One application. • Once an application is successfully launched, it no longer goes through Gatekeeper. (this is not true for OSX 10.9.5 as I tried to restore Gatekeeper setting and tried to decompress and run a new instance of Squeak All-in-One and I got the error: ….is damaged…etc) • Thus you can restore Gatekeeper settings to the default option "Mac App Store and identified developers" after successfully launching the profiler but you'll have to bypass it again the next time you download an all-in-one from Squeak site. =================== Le 2014-09-25 à 16:26, Levente Uzonyi <[hidden email]> a écrit : > This is just how "security" works at Apple. Actually, isn't it only that double-clicking the app does not work? If you right-click and select "Open" it should let you run it.

The purpose of the All-In-One is to be *accessible* to the widest possible audience. This new structure makes it not very user-friendly for new Squeak users using Windows or Linux. Before, everything was in the root folder, and Windows users would recognize "squeak.exe" while Linux users would recognize "squeak.sh". Mac users had whatever they needed. Now, are you saying those folks are supposed navigate down into the ./Squeak-4.5-All-in-One.app/Contents/hostDependentNonMac directory to look for the executable and .sh file? Wait, I'm not seeing squeak.sh at all anywhere.. We probably need to discuss this.
