Hi all,
A number of people have reported seeing characters appearing in the wrong order when typing into a Shout editor. I had been unable to reproduce this ... until now. While messing with the unicode arrows, the problem started to appear. (I don't think it is because of the unicode arrows per se; but rather because I happened to be on a different pc , using a different font, ... whatever). Anyway, I may have a fix. I would be grateful if any Shout users who have experienced this problem could install the attached .st file, and try it for a few days. If it does indeed solve the problem, without introducing any new ones, then I'll incorporate it into a new Shout release. Thanks in advance for your help. The normal fonts always worked for me. When loading your fix into my demo image, I cannot reproduce the problem anymore. Thanks, Lukas -- Lukas Renggli http://www.lukas-renggli.ch |

Hello Andrew,

If it does indeed solve the problem, without introducing any new ones, took a 3.8.1 image, reproduced the error several times, loaded your fix and couldn't reproduce the error any more, though I tried many times. Next serious squeaking will be in a fortnight, I'll let you know if I run into anything. I didn't complain because I can usually produce many more errors than Shout :-)) Thanks for the fix. Hi,
Thanks to everybody who has tested the fix. It seems to work fine. I have now put a new Shout release on SqueakMap that includes this, and other fixes. (n.b. the experimental Unicode leftwards arrow code is NOT included in this. That really is still an experiment). The new Shout version is on the universe. Don't forget you can upgrade your squeak-dev image doing: 1. World menu->open...->Package Universe Browser 2. Update list from network 3. Select all upgrades 4. Install selection Finally, you can execute: 'DEVImageCreator default install' to regenerate the documentation, the tools flap... -- Damien Cassou |
