Hi everyone, 2007 is growing near, and with it our elections - last
year's took place in February. There is no set time line yet, but one of the conclusions from last time is that the elections take quite a bit of time to unfold. So the beginning of the timeline is not very far off. Before that happens, we might do well to consider how things went the previous time, and what we should change. For example, in a thread titled "Election results" Ron mentioned he would have preferred a bit more campaigning for candidates (by themselves and by others), and some agreed. I for one would certainly be happy if we had a significantly higher ratio of candidates to positions this year. Of course we now have a years worth of experience with one elected board. Has this time affected how you think the elections should run? has it affected what you think the board members you elect should do? Dear Board - I'm sure both the voters and particularly potential candidates would love to hear your point of view as well. Now's the time to start talking about the elections. Hi all,
I wrote up an article about voting: http://weeklysqueak.wordpress.com/2006/11/15/vote/ Thank you, Daniel, for getting the ball rolling. There is a lot that still needs to be done, and I hope that we can start a discussion about what the community believes should be the next boards priorities. This is our chance to contribute to the structure of our community. The voices and participation of everyone is very important. Although this can be a difficult process, there is a lot of good that can come from it. It is worth the effort. Is there something written up about the goals and responsibilities of
the board? squeak.org pointed to http://smallwiki.unibe.ch/squeakfoundation/ which seems to be the predecessor of http:// www.squeakfoundation.org/, which, however, seems quite out of date since it does not reflect the "newly" elected board. Well, www.squeakfoundation.org is a quite new setup by Brad Fuller and Ken Causey. Brad have just copied the pages from the old site over to the new one. I guess the board will have to go trough the stuff there and change it to reflect the current situation. Sidenote: I think there is a issue with persistency on Pier. If you have any suggestions we will be happy to hear.
