Squeak on BlackBerry device

Giuseppe
Hi all,

Probably, for many people, this question will sound stupid, but...for me, is important..

Someone knows if could be possible to get a Squeak image running on BlackBerry devices?

Now, blackberry devices has a trackball that works like a mouse (well, some apps like eOffice  shows a pointer and use it like this)
Yes,blackberry has free web navigation , and a web could be possible for an app, but could be interesting to get "native" apps, more fast..

Cheers and thanks.

OS? CPU power? SDK? Memory model?

Answers to those will give us some hope of answering your question.

I'm not in front of keyboard but i will try to answer from memory.

OS is propetary, BlackBerryOS. The model I have, Blackberry Curve (8300), has 64MB flash with MicroSD expansion.

The SDK thath I know is BlaxkBerry Java API, and J2ME, but i think may there are some native compilation.

The cpu power, I don't know from memory

This information is from "About"

I think, BlackBerry.com section Developers, can have more advanced information.

If you need more information, tell me, i will post it on the morning, when take a PC

Blackberry devices are fantastic, and I need to develop an app for there, and i would like to use smalltalk, because I'm now in process of learning it.

Cheers.

Looks like a pretty tricky port to me; more a massive rework really.
No pointer input, so your entire image input system would have to be
completely changed. Only 16Mb of RAM for the entire system and I'd
bet a lot is constantly in use for the major message related apps. I
rather doubt there is any virtual memory...

Not an easy project.

The latest Blackberry models incorporate a trackball, but everything else
still looks like quite a challenge.
