We plan to move SqueakSource (www.squeaksource.com) to a new server
and at the same time upgrade the version. Hence, the service will not be available for a couple of hours next Monday afternoon (GMT+1). Requests to the old server (kilana.unibe.ch:8888 which is probably still in use instead of squeaksource.com) will be forwarded so that no changes should be required. SqueakSource is online again and happily running on the new server...
John, could you change the A records of (www.)squeaksource.com to point to 130.92.65.106? (The new server runs Apache and the virtual hosts are set up so that it does not need your proxy anymore.) Ok -- I can make the change, but I presently have the A record pointed to 24.208.173.223 which is not my proxy. I abandoned my proxy a while back. So you are asking me to change this A record to the
130.xxx.xxx.xxx IP. Shall I make this change immediately?

Ah -- never mind my last message. I have the A record pointing to 69.55.226.151 right now. Not sure who that is is, but that's what was decided before. I will make the change to the IP you suggest below once you confirm the timeline.

yes, the new server (not kilana) listens on port 80 and kilana:8888
proxies requests to it. So the time for the change of the DNS record does not matter. Squeaksource.com should see an increase in performance in the next day! I just removed two layers of indirection (proxy -> proxy -> squeaksource) and re-programmed the IP address of the DNS A record to point directly to the real server per your request.
That's my refactoring contribution to the community this week. Hold your applause. Regards, John On 1/31/06, Adrian Lienhard <
