[TestRunner] Windows 7 tests -- weird behaviour

Hannes Hirzel
Hello

I ran all the Tests in Windows 7 on an image from the All-in-one
package from www.squeak.org updated to the very last change as of
today.

First of all it paused after 33 tests for several minutes and then
continued. A debugger window came up towards the end of the tests and
it did not stop after 3218 tests but run up to 3332 tests.

22 expected failures, 37 failures, 294 errors.

May I ask somebody else with Windows 7 to run the tests?

Regards
Hannes

P.S. and after the tests 'Save and quit' no longer works.

Retest running all tests
===================

Retest running all tests
----------------------------

image and changes file from http://www.squeakci.org/job/UpdateFromLastRelease/
build 13

cogwin from http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/VM.r2585/

Result
----------------------------
3317 run
3039 passes
17 expected failures
21 failures
240 errors

Am I missing something here?

It's hard to tell what the problem is without knowing what's failing. A
good guess is that you didn't enable the VM to act as a server, so the
socket tests are failing.

May I ask somebody else with Windows 7 to run the tests?

Hi,
fwiw:
Laptop with Win 7 home premium 64 bit.
downloaded a fresh allInOne
changed update URL to trunk
updated code from server to 12203
ran all 3218 tests
long pause after 23 tests, no typo, 23 not 33 CPU running full on one core.
Obviously Levente is right, after a long pause Windows firewall asks for permisssions, which I grant.
20 expected failures, 11 failures, 23 errors, 2 unexpected passes
quit without save
cleaned update cache
update again and run the tests
this time the long pause is after 16 tests I assume this is because the display update happens asynchronously
no request from the firewall this time
20 expected failures, 11 failures, 23 errors, 2 unexpected passes no change here
In the end I'm greeted with some debuggers pic at: http://minus.com/mRrg91itF/
This time I saved the image so I can dig information out of it if needed.

Cheers,

Herbert

Duh, these happened as I seem to have clicked into the list of the test runner when bringing up Squeak behind another window.

Cheers,

Herbert

I did not enable the VM to act as a server. I checked the VM
preferences menu under the croquet symbol but I do not see an option
like that. I use Windows 7 ultimate edition.

Thank you, Herbert for your test. This looks much better.

You won't find it in any menu in Squeak, because it's an OS feature.
Google can help you find the answer.

Re: [TestRunner] Windows 7 tests -- weird behaviour

Hannes Hirzel
Thank you, Levente for pointing this out. This is now kind of obvious
for me after having put on a tester's hat again.

Yes it has to do with allowing croquet.exe in the Windows 7 firewall.
I can bring up the firewall (just type 'firewall' in the search box)
and then add a rule to croquet.exe and give the permissions. More on
this later.
