Dear Squeakers,
welcome to the The Weekly Squeak Summary, a weekly report on what's
going on in the world of Squeak based on the Weekly Squeak blog.
Highlights of the week:
The open source release of the Strongtalk VM is causing quite a stir
in the Squeak community, having already spawned lively discussions on
the Squeak-dev mailing list. Should a new VM for Squeak (or a
generally applicable one for multiple Smalltalks) be built? Should
Squeak be ported to Strongtalk? [1]
A lack of consistent documentation for Squeak and its various facets
and offsprings has been observed for some time. Now that a
documentation team is being formed [2], the situation is hopefully
about to improve.
SSL is now available for Squeak [4] and still needs contributions from
avid community members!
The state that open source software development is in is analysed in
an article [11] that is not only interesting for the Squeak community
- spread the news!
