Dear Squeakers,
welcome to the The WeeklySqueakSummary, a weekly report on what's
going on in the world of Squeak based on the WeeklySqueak blog.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
It's been quite a while since the last summary, for various reasons.
Several low-traffic weeks didn't make summarising them look sensible,
and then there were the holidays... here we are again.
Highlights of the past weeks:
The OLPC project is still being (sometimes heatedly) debated. Nicholas
Negroponte, the project's founder, pointedly discusses the project
opponents' opinions in a video [1] that also contains some educators'
comments.
Another video contains a talk on Exupery by Bryce Kampjes [11]. The
slides are readable in the video, but unfortunately, the video itself
is incomplete because the tape ran out during recording.
Finally, there is a tutorial on setting up a SqueakSource image to
create your own SqueakSource server [9], making available
project-oriented version control for everyone without the need for
having access to the server at squeaksource.com itself.
