Hi, Yoshiki,
Do you think any reason to drop this great tutorial from "the new squeakland" site (while I know Kedama has some incompatibility) ? If required changes is just to replace screenshot, I think we could make it public as-is and people could contribute. /Korakurider On Mon, Nov 23, 2009 at 4:28 AM, karl ramberg <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi, > here is a link to the old one: > http://web.archive.org/web/20080617192213/http://www.squeakland.org/fun_projects/kedama/kedma_welcome.htm > > Karl > > On Sun, Nov 22, 2009 at 12:45 AM, Bill Kerr <[hidden email]> wrote: >> >> there was a great kedama tutorial by linda kao on the old squeakland site >> but I can't find it anywhere now >> does anyone have an url or copy for it / of it? >> _______________________________________________ >> squeakland mailing list >> [hidden email] >> http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland >> > > > _______________________________________________ > squeakland mailing list > [hidden email] > http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland > > squeakland mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland |

The compatibility seems relatively small, but there is one thing I consider to be critical difference. If you follow the instruction and create "infect" script and call it from 'setup", it doesn't work as described. The content of the infect needs to be inlined in the setup (and in "oneStep"). > If required changes is just to replace screenshot, > I think we could make it public as-is and people could contribute. So, some changes should be desirable, unfortunately. But still, it would be nice to have tutorials available... -- Yoshiki _______________________________________________ squeakland mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland |

Unless you will write something, why do you want to people to write tutorial from scratch? I think the better way for sqF/vpri to facilitate contribution would be: + To collect some of historical contents and make them public on wiki, with caution of version incompatibility and invitation to people to retrofit. + to arrange license so that people could freely distribute/modify/translate materials. I didn't say I want people to write tutorials from scratch. I'd say it would be nice if somebody takes it and revise it. Right after Bill's inquery, we did ask the old site's master to dig the original up. But I would think that what I see on the archive.org is all it was. -- Yoshiki _______________________________________________ squeakland mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland |
The "source" of the PDF version, the Word document file was found.
So, I uploaded the file to: http://wiki.squeakland.org/pages/viewpageattachments.action?pageId=16844 -- Yoshiki _______________________________________________ squeakland mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland |

Kim (the executive director of VPRI, who funded making the document) says it is perfectly fine to make it public so it should be fine to use it for the FLOSS manual. -- Yoshiki _______________________________________________ squeakland mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland |
It is really great we finally "rescue" historical contents!
The tutorial have example projects attached. Where will we maintain them (revised for newer version of Etoys)? of course Showcase is one option, but it seems better if flossmanuals can manage such materials for translation and distribution, /Korakurider On Thu, Nov 26, 2009 at 5:46 AM, Kim Rose <[hidden email]> wrote: > Yes, this work was created by Viewpoints and a graduate student at UCLA who > was an intern for us at the time. > We hope it can prove helpful to any Etoys users. > > Kim > > On Nov 25, 2009, at 10:22 AM, Yoshiki Ohshima wrote: > >> At Wed, 25 Nov 2009 18:25:56 +0100, >> Karl Ramberg wrote: >>> >>> On 2009-11-25 18:08, Yoshiki Ohshima wrote: >>> >>> The "source" of the PDF version, the Word document file was found. >>> So, I uploaded the file to: >>> >>> >>> http://wiki.squeakland.org/pages/viewpageattachments.action?pageId=16844 >>> >>> -- Yoshiki >>> _______________________________________________ >>> squeakland mailing list >>> [hidden email] >>> http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland >>> >>> Great, >>> can we use this on http://en.flossmanuals.net/ ? >> >> Kim (the executive director of VPRI, who funded making the >> document) says it is perfectly fine to make it public so it should be >> fine to use it for the FLOSS manual. >> >> -- Yoshiki >> _______________________________________________ >> squeakland mailing list >> [hidden email] >> http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland > > > _______________________________________________ > Squeakland mailing list > [hidden email] > http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland > squeakland mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.squeakland.org/mailman/listinfo/squeakland |

Hi,
I'm revisiting our pages about Kedama on the french squeak wiki .(in french) http://community.ofset.org/index.php/Kedama I have found an older tutorial that we have translated: http://www.is.titech.ac.jp/~ohshima/squeak/kedama/ Kedama prime sieve and moving bakground on showcase are the first projects adapted to Etoy's particules. This mean that I can do the job of revisiting the tutorials. I just need a short information about the changes of the new Kedama.
