If you have an Intel Macintosh, you should grab a new VM here:
http://hedgehog.software.umn.edu/croquet/Hedgehog/install/
Squeak3.8.12beta5UwithOpenAL.zip
This fixes a problem where Croquet worlds with OpenAL sounds
crash intermittently on Intel-flavored Macs, but work everywhere
else. The crash seems to be caused by a bug in the OpenAL libraries
that Apple is currently shipping with MacOS.
To use the new VM, you will need un-zip
Squeak3.8.12beta5UwithOpenAL.zip,
then drag the file Squeak3.8.12beta5UwithOpenAL to the macintosh folder
inside the bin folder in the Croquet SDK. To make sure that you run
using the
new VM, launch croquet by dragging the Croquet1.0.10.image file onto the
Squeak3.8.12beta5UwithOpenAL application. You can make this easier by
either
1.) making an alias of the VM and putting the alias next to the
Croquet1.0.10.image image file
-or-
2.) viewing the Croquet DSK folder as a hierarchy and opening the bin
and
macintosh folders so you can see both the VM and image files at the
same time.
