on legacy applications (Apple Store genius quote long ago)

Paul Sheldon-2
To quote anon at Apple genius bar :
"Something must drive hardware and software development away from legacy. "

One may value one's investments in legacy, but that value isn't  a
universal that can be "argued". In a sense, legacy competes with
innovation . I consider this competition a needed dynamic for society .
Neither "side" is "right"; neither side is "wrong" .

A belief in universal values probably inhibit anything in "trade" to
quote Lt. Colonel Dubois in "Starship Troopers" course in moral
philosophy much akin, I would imagine from reading "A Beautiful Math",
to Adam Smith's department long long ago .

I have a legacy wifi card for my newton 2100 pda . Research gets
cheapened by dumbing down to 3rd world electronics, but, also, I can
contribute my old technology to a mission and we work out how to make it
work and get individual research strategies while I buy into new
technology from the added space in my house .

I have a yamaha songfiler application for mac os 9 that needs me to boot
in an older mac operating system to load a midi to jam with on my yamaha
midi keyboard and guitar.

I also need to boot in an older os to use a scanner which didn't keep
pouring money into os x drivers for newer operating systems.

I can value both new and old , but I am afraid I find myself embarrassed
with people valuing only one "side" or another .
