[squeak-dev] Squeak website now runs on Aida/Scribo

Janko Mivšek
Dear Squeakers,

I'm glad to report that during the weekend we switched our website from
SmallWiki to Aida/Scribo CMS and so far the website runs smoothly and
without glitches. Well, I don't count the server here...

This is a first step of webteam website renovation plan to serve even
better to our community and also to be a nice window for the outside
world to see, how advanced technology we have and how nice community we
are.

There are many plans in the future, first one will be a better Contact
us page so that we and newcomers will be able to contact the community
more easily. Next one is to make the site multi-lingual, so that
language communities will have the content in its own language. Next
major plan is a graphical redesign of the site.

Let me point to the one of very useful features of the new website: a
real-time statistics with counting the visitors of the first page, all
pages, all hits, today, yesterday, until now, hourly, daily, monthly:

        http:/www.squeak.org/stats.html

and specially referrers, that is where visitors come from, which page,
blog post or article refers them to our site:

        http://www.squeak.org/stat.html?view=referers

I hope you'll enjoy the renovated website. Any suggestion,
recommendation, comment is welcome!

Janko

Hi!

Am I missing something, or "Stay current by adding Squeak feeds to your RSS aggregator" does not lead to an RSS feed? This is surely not an emergency, just trying to help with debugging :)

Good idea and we have that in plan already. Scribo blog has RSS support
so it won't be hard to add it to this site too.

Good job Janko!
A running site is best proof what Aida capable/worth for.

Now, how about finding web-designer to make squeak face more beatiful? :))

Btw, can you make a squeak logo on top of the page clickable -
pointing to home page?

The site and the activity looks good, thanks Janko and webteam.

The easy stats are one of my favourite aida features. It shows some of
the strength of a integrated web-serving platform.

I'd also love to see the site log be a link to the front page.

Thanks!

Just a history question, wasn't the site previously based on Pier, and if so, what triggered the change.  If this was in a previous thread, please give me a link as I haven't been reading mails because I am too busy with school.

Hi David. Basically, the existence of a capable volunteer willing and
able to further develop the site based on aida/scribo. Search this list
for "squeak.org" subjects, eg in the gmane.org archive.
