With the dev mailing list slowly getting out of control ;) we should think of
means of communication with the masses! I created stackexchange proposal which needs YOUR support: http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/40717/pharo?referrer=gXC4FWspxSudZ2cQVVgbgQ2 we need now: - 60 Followers - 40 questions with some answers! I think this will greatly improve the efficiency of our discussions! - tagging of discussions - better archive for questions go go go! cami |

[show rest of quote] There is no answering at the moment only comments. It is in a stage to be evaluated. If the questions asked are distinct from the other sites and there is enough movement then the site will be created where you can answer the questions. Norbert |

I just whent browsing through the discussions and it looks as if we'll be having a hard time justifying a Pharo SE site. I quote (http://discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/questions/5032/re-possible-duplicate-of-stack-overflow):
Someone pointed to http://ask.rascal-mpl.org/questions/. That site is actually an Askbot page (an open source SE clone). So maybe, what we want is an Askbot setup? Cheers, Max On 15.05.2012, at 12:12, Norbert Hartl wrote:

There's even a topic on SO clones on meta.stackoverflow.com: http://meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/2267/stack-overflow-clones. The problem with such a clone I guess is, that we'll need people to maintain the site… Max On 15.05.2012, at 13:16, Max Leske wrote:

too bad :) I like stuff to be cleaned up and separated...
though stackoverflow isn't that bad either, and if you properly define your preference tags it's almost like the mailing list ;) We simply have to stick to the proper tags: pharo pharo1.3 pharo1.4 pharo2.0 + maybe the concerning tool there are a couple of nice apps: http://stackoverflow.com/users/apps/174541 and I strongly vouch for using SO instead of this mailinglist for all sorts of questions. the mailing list seems to be ok for discussions (which many people enjoy here). [show rest of quote] http://stackoverflow.com/feeds/tag/pharo would probably be exactly what you'd want, possibly with http://stackoverflow.com/feeds/tag/smalltalk just to catch non-Pharo questions that could be answered from a Pharo perspective. But yes, I guess there is a cost in that you need an SO account to ask questions. Having paid that cost long ago, I didn't think about that. frank > > Marcus > > > -- > Marcus Denker -- http://marcusdenker.de > > |

Apps can only be viewed for your profile (you have to sign in). So the URL would be: http://stackoverflow.com/users/apps/<your user id>

Bug tracker because there are tags... while I already thing that I want sub-projects on the current one. I personally don't think that tagging subsumes grouping. Marcus -- Marcus Denker -- http://marcusdenker.de |

Exactly. Whatever we decide, we'll need commitment from our community, esp. the key devs, to monitor the new venue with the same attention as this list. When I'm deep into the system, I'm reluctant to move my questions even to the Pharo Users list because there's only a handful of people that can answer and I don't know if they'll see them.
Cheers,
Sean |
